Named after the mythical Titan destined to bear the weight of the heavens, the Atlas table features solid legs that provide steadfast support to its expansive tabletop. The interplay and contrast between the robust base and the refined top lie at the heart of the design—each element amplifies the other, resulting in a commanding presence and a bold, brutalist aesthetic.

Designer John Astbury drew from diverse architectural traditions, referencing classical porticoes and colonnades. However, Atlas is primarily rooted in the archetypal post-and-lintel construction. Paired with the simplicity of geometric forms—circle and square—these fundamental structures come together to define the table’s striking composition and architectural character.
